Background

Subjects Personality (INTERVIEWED BY PAST PERSONS WITH RELATIONS WITH SUBJECT.)

“An expert marksman and a seasoned warrior who is talented with long-range combat. With the dedicated skill he brings to the task of serving as Zulu Squads marksman, James is able to remain still for incredibly long periods of time during overwatch.

Aside from his combat skills, Richard’s ability to maintain situational awareness and predict enemy behavior is particularly notable, as is his attention to detail while he conducted overwatch operations. Richard perceptiveness and ability to discern motivations from seemingly casual contact is considered almost preternatural. Richard often downplays this ability, describing it as a combination of simple deduction and great skill.

Calm and well-practiced, Richard is regarded as "rock solid under pressure" and not arrogant about his exceptional skills as a sniper. Though he is confident in his skills. He is reluctant to boast such. Somewhat a loner by nature, Richard competes only with himself and feels as if he has little time for trivial personality conflicts that impede efficiency.

Richard believed maintaining one's humanity during a conflict for survival to be irrational - that both ideas cannot co-exist, so he decided early on in his career to never let them. As such, he favored an aggressive and loud approach to combat, wanting to prove to everyone (as well as himself) that he was not afraid of the enemy nor was he afraid of doing whatever was necessary to win the war. His apparent sadism was in actuality an affectation - he did what he did because he knew that it could potentially break the enemy's will to fight, not necessarily because he enjoyed it.

Though Richard is quite vocal and unafraid to speak his mind, he is always tightly focused on the mission at hand. Some have interpreted this character trait for a deep philosophy. Richard is known for remaining unwaveringly composed, even under the highest of pressures.

Richard was noted to have had the most difficulty interacting with non-military personnel. He has treated civilians with suspicion and disregard, which led to confrontations. Despite his hard outlook, he held a deep respect for his teammates, as well as readiness and loyalty to sacrifice himself. Despite his abrasive outlook he was described as being detail-oriented and unbreakable, an effective member of his unit while in the field and one that maintained strict discipline off the field.”

Moving on from his old military background Captain Thurman and his squad were sent into Chernarus to to perform a reconnaissance mission, they had people stationed throughout the region monitoring the current ongoing civil unrest. This is when it all went south, the whole world resolving into chaos, Zulu Squad were essentially deemed expendable when the state went into lock down. Left for dead. During the dismay of the first few weeks they were split up and are now lost. Richard the squad leader has left indicators to enforce Plan Delta where they must begin Operation Dragonfruit a scenario that they had been trained for in case the world ever broke out in chemical or biological warfare. They now have to locate one another and survive.

Whilst in Chernarus he got involved in mercenary work to both pass the time and complete his plans, the extra man power assisted him in setting up relations with different significant figures within the region and increase his knowledge of the different factions and smaller settlements. Whilst working for D7 he was betrayed by his CO and shot after attempting to apprehend him this resulted in a manhunt and final execution of one Jiri Svobodov. After completing this final assignment he surrendered himself to a third party involved in the manhunt with a more personal stake in it, getting out of the situation within an inch of his life. Thankfully he had people in the area and was "patched up".

Once patched up he stuck to the trees hunting to survive but was reached out by an old friend over the radio and it began.
